rebel yell: the 411
there's a method to my madness
Okay, so I'm sure you're guessing 'Why Lars?', right? Well, before I give the 'Why not Lars?' response, I figured I'd sit on down and get TL;DR on you about it. You've heard it before, but Lars was the character to renew my interest in the Tekken fandom after I ninja'd my way out due to disinterest. I had heard of Tekken 6—Bloodline Rebellion didn't hit yet—but I hardly batted an eyelash at it. I remember being wowed at the fact they added breakable stages to their game because it reminded me of my other defunct game love: Dead or Alive. When Namco began hyping Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion and introducing two new characters, one of them being Lars, I was like 'Ooooh!' based on his moves alone. Yes, shallow, I know, but still I decided to lurk around and watch and hype over my other favorite character Kazuya, who at the time was lookin' fly in his white suit.

So began the process of watching loads of gameplay videos, which made me even more excited for this guy. When someone leaked the Scenario Campagin mode on YouTube, I watched and was like 'OH MY GAWD'. But still, I was determined to hold out until the game itself was in my hands. Yes, I did a naughty thing and got it before October 27th, but I played through SC and that sealed the deal. Lars had easily catapulted his way toward the top of my favorite characters list. Sure, the way SC was handled was bad, not knocking that. But he was such a nice change of pace as opposed to Jin, Kazuya, or Heihachi, who are pretty much douches at this point in time (I love you Kazuya, but you're a douche XD). Jin had voluntarily given up his role as the good apple of the bunch and Lars took that role.

The fact that his reception was hardly welcomed by fandom only made me like him more. Yeah, you guys were promised Jin vs Kazuya (lol Tekken 4 rematch) and they hyped it along with the other characters and you didn't get that, so you took it out on Lars and Alisa pretty much, but whatever. Fandom wars are amusing, but ridiculous. Lars haters are trolled by something as simple as his face showing up; he gets the record for 'ruining Tekken 6' apparently, when it was Namco who played it out. Everybody can't get their way, so why continue whining like a kid who got his toy taken away? Put down the Tekken and do something productive. Lars is badass, yes, but thanks to fandom being shitty, my expectations for him aren't higher and it's a shame.

Despite all of the negative, I knew that eventually I would be making a tribute to Lars on my domain, without a doubt. It's hard to not show your bias, I know, but I've tried to cover both ends of the spectrum on more than one occasion and voice my opinion. For me, I can easily fangirl over, and even make fun of Lars and when someone can do both, it's great because it's all in good fun! Not even gonna lie, I'm amused to this day at the fact people are trolled by him just being there.
